What is SpeechLive?
One cloud workspace for you and your team.
SpeechLive is a modular solution that brings together the core parts of dictation and transcription: recording, upload, routing, typing, review, administration and reporting, with optional transcription service, speech recognition and AI scribe add-on solutions. It gives each person the tools they need without forcing the whole team into one rigid way of working.
The SpeechLive difference is flexibility. SpeechLive can support traditional author-to-typist dictation, browser and mobile dictation, dedicated dictation recorders, transcription teams, optional AI speech recognition, Dragon Medical One integration, legal AI document creation, future healthcare AI options and professional transcription services.
Start basic and add on what you need. When you need it.
How SpeechLive works
Record. Send. Transcribe.
SpeechLive keeps work moving from author to typist, speech recognition, transcription service or document review without emailing audio files around the office.
Windows and macOS compatible.
Work from any computer or location, straight from the browser — with no traditional workflow software to install.
Dictate
Create dictations in the SpeechLive Mobile App, browser recorder or desktop app, or upload recordings from compatible professional dictation recorders.
Basic, Pro and Enterprise
Choose the SpeechLive plan that matches your team.
SpeechLive is available in Basic, Pro and Enterprise plan levels. The right choice depends on how many users you need, how authors will record, whether typists need full worklist management, whether speech recognition is required and whether integrations, reporting or enterprise administration are part of the rollout.
VoiceX can help map your authors, typists, administrators, office managers and add-ons before you purchase. Upgrading is easy and can be done at any time during your subscription.
Integrations and document systems
Connect SpeechLive to the system your team already uses.
For some teams, SpeechLive is used as a standalone dictation and transcription platform. For others, the value is in connecting dictation, attachments and transcripts with legal practice management or document management systems.
Current integration options include platforms such as Actionstep and iManage, with additional setup pathways provided for systems such as Clio and NetDocuments. More Australian and New Zealand legal and medical practice management integrations are also in development.
Actionstep
Support legal matter-based dictation workflows where integration is configured.
iManage
Share dictations, attachments and transcripts with document management environments.
Clio
Discuss availability and setup requirements with VoiceX before planning rollout.
NetDocuments
Discuss availability and setup requirements with VoiceX before planning rollout.
For larger or more specialised environments, SpeechLive Enterprise can also support API and webhook options. VoiceX can help confirm the best integration path for your edition, region and business system.
Built around real roles
Authors, typists and administrators. Different tools. Same browser platform.
SpeechLive is not just a recorder app. It is a role-based document-creation environment that supports the people who dictate, the people who transcribe, the people who manage the work, and the teams that need visibility across the process.
Authors
Record dictations, attach files, set priorities, upload recorder files, use speech recognition and track job progress.
Typists
Access assigned worklists, play audio in the browser, use foot controls, sort jobs, manage notifications and return documents.
Administrators
Manage users, relationships, rules, add-ons, reporting, integrations, SSO, speech recognition activation and account settings.
Office managers
View work across the account, reassign dictations, manage teams and help keep urgent work moving when people are away.
For authors
Dictate the way you prefer to work.
Some authors want to dictate from a smartphone. Some prefer a browser recorder. Others still work best with a dedicated dictaphone-style recorder because it is fast, tactile and familiar. SpeechLive can support each of these ways of working.
Authors can still use professional dictation recorders such as the Philips DPM8000, selected older Olympus DS7000 and DS9500 recorders, and newer OM SYSTEM recorders such as the DS9100, with upload handled through the SpeechLive Desktop App where the workstation and recorder are configured for that process.
Mobile app
Record, review and send dictations from iPhone or Android when away from the desk.
Browser recorder
Create dictations directly in SpeechLive without installing full workflow software.
Dedicated recorder
Keep using a professional handheld recorder where it suits the author and the work.
Priority and files
Set priority, due details and attachments so the typist receives useful context.
SpeechLive Mobile App
Dictate when the work happens, not when you get back to the desk.
The SpeechLive Mobile App gives authors a practical way to record and send dictations from outside the office. It is useful for lawyers leaving court, clinicians moving between rooms, consultants travelling between appointments and professionals who need to capture work while it is still fresh.
Depending on the workflow, mobile dictations can be sent to a typist, speech recognition, the transcription service or another supported destination. Authors can also adjust dictation properties and add attachments where needed.
The SpeechLive Mobile App is included for all SpeechLive authors.
For typists and transcription teams
A professional workspace for transcription.
SpeechLive gives typists a browser-based workspace for receiving, playing, sorting, transcribing and returning dictations, while still supporting familiar transcription tools such as foot controls.
Web player and worklist
Typists can access assigned dictations through the browser, use the pop-out transcription player, manage their worklist and keep track of new, urgent or returned jobs.
Foot control support
Use compatible foot controls for hands-free playback. VoiceX can help match Philips foot controls, Infinity IN-USB3 and selected older Olympus RSxxH foot controls where suitable. Simple connection in local and remote desktop environments.
Correction of AI-generated documents
When speech recognition or an AI assistant is enabled, typists can review and correct generated text against the original audio rather than typing every word from scratch - speeding up your document turnaround.
Flexible team cover
Work can be routed, reassigned or picked up by the right person depending on priority, user relationships and team setup.
Administration and office manager control
All the functionality without the restrictions.
SpeechLive gives administrators and office managers the control needed to support small practices, transcription teams and larger multi-user environments from any computer, in any location.
Including support for remote desktop and virtual environments
Users and relationships
Add users, define author-to-typist relationships and set up the right team structure.
Rules and priorities
Preset dictation properties, use time or event rules and help urgent dictations move first.
Team visibility and reporting
Office managers can view work across the account, reassign dictations, recover deleted dictations and run activity reports.
Enterprise options
Support larger environments with MS Entra integration, user provisioning, advanced reporting and integration controls.
Replacing older dictation systems
Still using Olympus ODMS or SpeechExec on-premises?
Before replacing old licences or rebuilding an existing setup, trial SpeechLive to see whether a cloud workflow is now the easier and more cost-effective option.
No old server to maintain
SpeechLive removes the need for a traditional on-premise dictation server and gives users access from supported browsers and devices. Saving you money on additional infrastructure, maintenance and support.
Same familiar working
Authors can still dictate using a dictaphone or recorder in addition to the SpeechLive Mobile App; typists can still transcribe; and teams can still use priorities, author relationships, and review steps.

Need human transcription without your own typist?
SpeechLive can also support professional transcription services for organisations that do not have internal typists, need overflow support, or want a flexible way to handle dictation during leave, peak periods, or staffing changes.
This should be assessed separately from the core SpeechLive workflow setup, because turnaround, content type, formatting expectations and cost model can vary.
