Professional dictation and transcription — without an on-premise server
ODMS Cloud is OM SYSTEM's cloud dictation and transcription platform for authors, transcriptionists and administrators. Record using a professional voice recorder or smartphone, securely send dictations to the cloud and manage each job through transcription, review and completion.
Optional ODMS Cloud Speech Recognition can automatically convert recorded dictation into text using Microsoft Azure AI, giving transcriptionists a first draft to review against the original audio.

What is ODMS Cloud?
ODMS Cloud is the cloud-based OM Dictation Management System from OM SYSTEM, formerly Olympus. It connects authors and transcriptionists through a managed professional dictation workflow without requiring an organisation to maintain its own dedicated dictation server.
Authors record their dictation using the ODMS Cloud smartphone app or a compatible professional digital voice recorder. Audio is uploaded securely to ODMS Cloud and routed to the appropriate transcriptionist according to your workflow settings.
Transcriptionists can see assigned work, listen using professional playback controls, prepare or review the document and update each job through to completion. Authors and administrators retain visibility of dictation status without manually emailing recordings or managing shared folders.

From spoken dictation to finished document
Record
Dictate from the ODMS Cloud smartphone app or a compatible professional digital voice recorder.
Upload
Send mobile recordings directly to ODMS Cloud or automatically upload compatible recorder files through the Desktop App.
Route
Route work using Author ID, Worktype and transcription groups so new dictations reach the appropriate transcriptionist.
Transcribe & Review
Type from the original audio or review an automatically recognised draft, then complete the document and update the job status.
Simple for authors and transcriptionists. Controlled by administrators.
For authors
Record from a smartphone or professional recorder, send dictations without manually transferring audio files and monitor the progress of your work through the transcription process.
For transcriptionists
Receive assigned work, prioritise dictations and control audio playback using a compatible professional foot control while preparing or reviewing documents.
For administrators
Centrally manage users, licences, Author IDs, work types, transcription groups, routing rules and workflow settings through the ODMS Cloud administration interface.

Dictate from your phone or professional voice recorder
ODMS Cloud lets authors choose the recording method that suits them without changing the workflow behind it.
ODMS Cloud smartphone app
Record professional dictations from a smartphone, add work information and upload audio directly into the organisation's ODMS Cloud workflow from wherever you are working.
Professional digital voice recorders
Current OM SYSTEM recorders including the DS-9100 and DS-2700, along with selected professional Olympus DS-series recorders, can connect with ODMS Cloud for professional portable dictation.
OM SYSTEM also officially supports automatic dictation upload from Philips DPM8000 Series recorders, giving organisations another option when they already own compatible Philips professional hardware.
Let speech recognition create the first draft. Keep a human in the loop.
ODMS Cloud can add AI-powered background speech recognition to the traditional dictation workflow. When an authorised author's recording is uploaded, Microsoft Azure AI converts the speech into text automatically and adds punctuation.
The transcriptionist receives the recognised text together with the original audio. ODMS Cloud's correction tools allow the typist to listen to the recording, review recognised words, correct terminology and formatting and prepare the final document.
This creates a practical Human-in-the-Loop transcription process: AI handles the initial speech-to-text conversion while a person remains responsible for checking the content and completing the document.
Speech recognition is not an AI scribe. ODMS Cloud Speech Recognition converts dictated audio into text. An AI scribe or AI Assistant goes further by interpreting spoken information and generating a structured document draft.

Microsoft Azure hosting with professional dictation security
ODMS Cloud is built and hosted on Microsoft Azure, with Australia available as an ODMS Cloud data region. It provides a managed alternative to moving confidential professional recordings through email, consumer file-sharing tools or unmanaged shared folders.
Secure access
ODMS Cloud uses HTTPS communications and two-factor authentication to help protect access to the service.
Encrypted professional audio
Compatible professional recorders and mobile capture can support encrypted audio, including 256-bit AES encryption where configured.
Central administration
Manage users, licences, routing and workflow settings centrally rather than configuring every author's workflow independently.

Both support professional OM SYSTEM dictation, but the better choice depends largely on whether your organisation wants cloud access or installed desktop software.

Compare with Philips SpeechLive →Common questions about ODMS Cloud
What is ODMS Cloud?
ODMS Cloud is OM SYSTEM's cloud-based professional dictation and transcription workflow. It allows authors to securely send recorded audio to transcriptionists and lets organisations manage users, work routing and dictation status without operating their own dictation server.
Is ODMS Cloud the same as Olympus ODMS?
OM SYSTEM is the professional audio business formerly known as Olympus. ODMS Cloud is its cloud workflow platform, while ODMS Pro R8 is the current installed on-premise dictation and transcription software.
Does ODMS Cloud include speech recognition?
Standard ODMS Cloud provides professional dictation and transcription workflow. An optional Speech Recognition licence adds Microsoft Azure AI-powered background speech-to-text for authors, creating a draft that can then be reviewed and corrected by a transcriptionist.
Is ODMS Cloud an AI scribe?
No. ODMS Cloud Speech Recognition converts recorded speech into text. An AI scribe or AI Assistant performs a different task by interpreting spoken information and using it to generate a structured document draft.
Can I use an existing Olympus recorder with ODMS Cloud?
A range of current OM SYSTEM and earlier professional Olympus DS-series recorders are supported. Compatibility varies by model and operating system, so VoiceX can confirm your existing hardware before you move to ODMS Cloud.
Can ODMS Cloud work with a Philips DPM8000 recorder?
Yes. Current OM SYSTEM documentation confirms support for automatic dictation upload from the Philips DPM8000 Series into ODMS Cloud.
Where is ODMS Cloud hosted?
ODMS Cloud is built and hosted using Microsoft Azure. OM SYSTEM currently provides regional data storage in Australia as well as other supported international regions.
Can we trial ODMS Cloud before buying?
Yes. New ODMS Cloud accounts can trial the platform for 30 days, including the option to evaluate the Speech Recognition workflow before purchasing annual licences.
Try ODMS Cloud with your own dictation workflow
Trial ODMS Cloud for 30 days and test professional recorder or mobile dictation, author-to-transcriptionist routing and the optional Speech Recognition workflow. VoiceX can also help assess your existing OM SYSTEM, Olympus or compatible Philips recorder hardware before you migrate.
