Can I use SpeechLive in a web browser with a foot control for transcription?

Can I use SpeechLive with a foot control in a Remote Desktop / Citrix / Virtual environment?

Yes, both authors and typists can access SpeechLive via Remote Desktop/RDP, Citrix, Terminal Server etc and use dictation and transcription hardware in the remote session such as Philips transcription foot controls, SpeechMikes and DPM Dictation Recorders.

To enable the use of SpeechLive in a Remote Desktop Environment you will need to apply for some extensions on both the local and remote computers.

LOCAL PC (Windows Client):

1. DOWNLOAD the Philips Speech Extensions package
2. Run the file \2_Windows_clients\philips_client_extension_setup.exe

NB: If you wish to use SpeechLive on your local PC in addition to your remote desktop, you will need to add the Philips Device Connector Chrome extension in your local Google Chrome or Edge browser.

Set up SpeechLive Philips Device Connector on the REMOTE COMPUTER (TARGET)

To use Philips Device Connector, you need to install two components on the REMOTE COMPUTER

• Philips Device Connector Chrome extension
• Philips Device Connector native host application

The following steps cover the installation of both components:

1. Navigate to the Philips Device Connector extension page in the Chrome web store.
2. Click on Add to Chrome.
3. A pop-up window appears, confirm the installation by clicking on Add extension.
4. Once you have done the above, download the latest Philips Device Connector native host application package here and unzip the file.
5. In the Windows folder of the installation package you just downloaded, you'll find the necessary exe
6. Double click to Run the .exe file and finish the setup.
7. Restart your browser.

Your foot control should now work. 

To ensure audio is also played on your local computer you will need to ensure that your Remote Desktop App is set to pass through audio. You can do this by;

1. Click on SHOW OPTIONS on your Remote Desktop Connection App before you click on CONNECT
2. Click LOCAL RESOURCES>REMOTE AUDIO – SETTINGS
3. REMOTE AUDIO PLAYBACK = Play on this computer
